Joy: Be glad and rejoice

Call to Worship

Leader: Sing aloud, O people,
shout out your worship in a loud voice!
People: God takes away the judgment against us;
there’s no need to fear disaster.
Leader: The Lord our God exults over us with gladness; singing
loudly as on a day of celebration.
People: God delivers us from all that oppresses us,
changing our shame into praise.
All: Rejoice! For God is our strength and our might
and has become our salvation.

Praying

God of eternity, when the voices of prophets are silent and the
faith of your people low, when darkness has obscured the light
and indifference has displaced zeal, you see that the time is
right and prepare to send your Son. Set us free from fear and
faithlessness, that we may be ready to welcome him who comes
as Savior and Lord. Amen. — adapted from Sing the Story #127

Sending

Let us not worry about anything,
but in everything, with thanksgiving,
make our requests known to God.
So God’s peace, which is beyond our understanding,
will guard both our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus.

Today is the third Sunday of Advent. Advent–Epiphany worship resources
